Bully Ray explains how he knew CM Punk would win the gauntlet match on WWE RAW.
On WWE RAW, CM Punk, Bron Breakker, LA Knight, Penta El Zero Miedo, and Jey Uso competed in a gauntlet match. The winner would earn a shot at Gunther’s World Heavyweight Championship at SummerSlam. Bron Breakker started strong by dominating the match.
He eliminated Penta, LA Knight, and Jey Uso one after the other. Many believed he would win the whole thing. However, CM Punk stepped in at the end and managed to defeat Breakker, earning himself a title match at SummerSlam.
However, WWE Hall of Famer Bully Ray noticed a key moment that made him realize Breakker wouldn’t win. While watching the match, Bully Ray saw Bronson Reed step in to help Breakker against Jey Uso. That moment made him certain CM Punk would come out on top.
Bully Ray says CM Punk’s win became clear after Bronson Reed helped Bron Breakker
On Busted Open Radio, Bully Ray said, “The gauntlet match at the end with Bron Breakker, they had him pretty much run the table. I said to myself, ‘Hmm, maybe [Dave] LaGreca is on to something,’ because you said yesterday that you thought this was a great opportunity for them to give Bron a little bit of a bump, a little bit of a push, and maybe see Bron versus GUNTHER at SummerSlam. But the second that I saw Tsunami kid [Bronson Reed] … come in to help Bron, that’s when I knew, alright, Punk is going over.”
“They’re trying to get heat on Bron deep into the gauntlet so you remember what they did to Jey Uso. Then obviously Punk goes over and we got Punk versus GUNTHER at SummerSlam, which I think is the big match that they needed because of Seth [Rollins] going down.” [H/T: WrestlingInc]
