James Gunn’s Superman hit movie theatres this weekend, and the film features a brief cameo by a WWE Superstar.
Warning: Spoilers follow!

John Cena reprised his role as Christopher Smith, aka Peacemaker, in the new Superman film. During one scene, Cena is briefly seen as a guest on a talk show on the fictional news network called The Sphere. There, Cena (as Peacemaker) takes a few digs at Superman and metahumans.
Peacemaker is a “guest” on the fictional show, talking about Superman’s actions after a key plot point in the film. He goes on to mock Superman’s “no kill policy” and talks some trash on the Man of Steel.
This is the first time Cena’s character has been involved with the new DCU Superman, played by David Corenswet. However, it’s not the first time Peacemaker has interacted with a Superman. The first season of HBO Max’s Peacemaker television series featured an uncredited cameo appearance from the “Zack Snyder era” Justice League. The end of the first season saw Jason Momoa and Ezra Miller as the DCEU-era Aquaman and Flash, while Superman and Wonder Woman were portrayed by body doubles instead of Henry Cavill and Gal Gadot.
Some of the characters in Gunn’s Superman are also featured in the first trailer for season two of Peacemaker. In that regard, it’s not completely unexpected to see Cena in the movie. However, it was still a nice surprise to see him pop up in the new movie.
When will John Cena play Peacemaker again?
Peacemaker season 2 premieres on HBO Max on August 21. Gunn has previously said that he has “a way in” in regards to how Cena’s Peacemaker can exist in the new DCU era, and that it would not be confusing for fans.
Cena commented on the theatrical release of Superman, congratulating his “dear friend” James Gunn and the team for the new movie.
