Terri Runnels recalls her “godawful” experience in a lingerie pillow fight in WWE.
Ring The Belle‘s DS Shin recently spoke with Terri Runnels about some of the highlights of her WWE career. One “highlight” was a memorable moment for an unfortunate reason. Terri competed in a Lingerie Pillow Fight against Stacy Keibler on the September 2, 2002 episode of WWE RAW. That scrap also saw a vat of syrup and feathers incorporated into the match, which led to a “tarred and feathered” remark or two.
Terri revealed that she almost died after having the syrup poured all over her. She also noted that she doesn’t even think Keibler knew it. She says she tried to take a quick breath after Stacy dumped the mixture on her. However, the feathers from the pillow got stuck in her throat.
Terri Runnels explains what went wrong in her lingerie pillow fight
“I don’t even think ‘The Keebs’ even realizes that. I have to go tell her,” Terri began, before pulling a bystander into the camera frame. “So it was a fluff match. Oh gosh, I just said that word! [Yeah, it’s bad] in a certain industry. That term… yeah. Sorry.
“The whole thing was ‘tarred and feathered.’ [But] I did not take into account the fact that gallons of syrup were going to be poured on me. Now, what I did was, I made the mistake of trying to get a breath in there before the deluge of syrup [hit me],” Terri Runnels continued. “In my attempt to breathe, my mouth opened up, syrup coated my throat. When the little pin feathers from the feather pillow went into my throat, every little tiny feather was now stuck to my [throat]. I couldn’t breathe. I thought, ‘I’m going to die on live television.’ It was godawful.”
