Matt Hardy believes AEW is the reason why WWE-TNA partnership took off in the first place.
The WWE-TNA partnership is going strong with talent appearing back and forth on NXT and iMPACT almost on a weekly basis. For instance, NXT Women’s Champion Jacy Jayne previously appeared on the iMPACT Zone to tease a match with TNA Knockouts Champion Masha Slamovich.
TNA’s Mike Santana showed up this past Tuesday on NXT to help Joe Hendry fend off High Ryze and win his match against Wes Lee. Santana and Hendry will join forces next week on NXT in tag team action weeks before they collide for the TNA World Championship in a multi-man Slammiversary main event.
Speaking of multi-man showdown, The Hardys will challenge for the TNA World Tag Team Championship in a four-way ladder match at the July 20 PPV. Matt and Jeff Hardy recently appeared on The Ariel Helwani Show when they were asked to share their perspective on why this working relationship took off.
Matt Hardy credits AEW for WWE-TNA partnership
“I would guess part of it is AEW and its existence,” said Matt. “… It’s helping us. No doubt. TNA is a company that has been around for over two decades and I think it’s an important staple in pro wrestling. They do a style that is more similar to the WWE style. It’s a good call and a win-win for everybody.” [H/T Fightful]
The Hardys defeated The Northern Armory in tag team action last week on iMPACT Wrestling. TNA announced Matt and Jeff will take on FIR$T CLA$$ (AJ Francis and KC Navarro) tonight on the iMPACT Zone.
