Goldberg will bid adieu to active in-ring competition in 2025.
WWE Hall of Famer Goldberg is set to close the chapter on his pro wrestling run with a final send-off this year. While the promotion hasn’t officially confirmed full details such as the venue and opponent, Goldberg dropped a major hint about the location.
The former WCW Champion recently appeared on The Claw podcast with Ross Von Erich and Marshall Von Erich. During the conversation, Goldberg revealed his dream was to have his retirement match in Israel, but the circumstances didn’t allow it. Goldberg didn’t directly address it, but alluded to the current political climate and high tensions between Israel and Palestine as the reason why it wouldn’t happen the way he’d hoped.
“I’ll do anything for my faith,” he said. “Truth be told, my dream was to have my retirement match in Israel. Quite obviously, because of the surroundings right now and over the past five years, it just hasn’t been the right place to do it. I would be remiss if I didn’t tell you that I was sorely disappointed that I couldn’t do something in Israel, but retired doesn’t mean dead.”
Goldberg isn’t ruling out a visit to Israel
Goldberg said he would be honored to visit Israel as he’s been trying for the last couple of years. However, that hasn’t worked out so far.
“I would be honored to go out there at some point, I really would. Never say never, but we’ve been trying to do it for the past number of years and it didn’t work out. Fingers crossed, that’s all you can do.” [H/T Fightful]
Goldberg was previously linked to a match against Sting in Israel as part of a retirement tour, but that match never materialized.
Fightful recently dropped an update on a potential location for Goldberg’s WWE retirement match. He last wrestled for the promotion at Elimination Chamber 2022 against Roman Reigns. His last PLE appearance was at Bad Blood 2024.
