Jade Cargill and Asuka had their first one-on-one match against each other over the weekend at WWE Night of Champions in the finals of the Queen of the Ring tournament.
Much to the chagrin of the live crowd, Cargill would defeat Asuka to become the 2025 Queen of the Ring. Cargill will challenge the WWE Women’s Champion at SummerSlam later this year.
Cargill took to social media over the weekend to reflect on the match, thanking Asuka for the match and expressing how much it meant to her personally, tweeting out:
“Thank you to @WWEAsuka for one of my dream matches. I’m so thankful to have had a match with you. *White heart emoji* it meant more than anyone would know. more to come,” Jade Cargill said in a post.
Asuka would see this message the next day and respond like only The Empress of Tomorrow could, tweeting back:
*Sparkling heart emoji* But next time… I won’t hold back. *Sign of the horns emoji* *Smiling face with horns emoji,*” Asuka said in response.
It’s unknown if and when we’ll see a rematch between these two women.
