Kevin Owens admits he was wrong about former WWE champion The Miz.
Owens recently opened up about his past doubts regarding The Miz during an appearance on What Do You Wanna Talk About? with Cody Rhodes. Owens revealed that during his time as an independent wrestler, he didn’t understand why The Miz always appeared in top storylines.
“I’m glad you brought up Miz, though, because you know what, dude? There’s a guy. If there’s one guy that doesn’t get enough credit, yeah, it’s him. Even me. I’ll fully admit this, and I think, I’ve told Mike before, I watched WWE from the outside looking in when I was an independent wrestler, hoping to get to WWE.”
“And I’d see Miz and go, how the f*ck is this guy main eventing WrestleMania? How the f*ck is this guy always in the top angles? How the, dude, I know why. Once I worked with him once, I was like, that’s why. We talked about making everything work. He is the epitome of that. He’ll say yes to anything. He’ll make it work. He’ll do it well. And, dude, he has amazing matches.”
Owens highlighted the The Miz having a great match with Gunther at WWE Survivor Series 2022 match. “He had a match with Gunther in Chicago. You look at Miz, do you think, You look at Gunther, and you look at Miz. You think, those guys? You look at Gunther, you think, ‘Hey, I can’t wait to see him wrestle.’ Miz is probably at the bottom of the list. dude. They killed it killed it. And guess what? That’s true with almost everyone, Miz can do that with anybody.”

Cody Rhodes recalled using a student’s dismissive comment about The Miz as a teaching moment He mentioned that while WWE is currently in a popular era, there were times in the past when that wasn’t the case yet The Miz remained a constant presence through it all.
Rhodes said, “And there was Mike. There was Miz. I mean, he’s one of those. He reminds me there’s a couple others. I mentioned this to Natty Neidhart not long ago; she was talking about her book. You know, when Natty eventually goes in the Hall of Fame, I’ll probably stand up for three minutes clapping for her. When Miz goes in the Hall of Fame, I’ll stand up for that’s going to be very special because he’s so unique, and he’s so, I gotcha there’s only one speed with him, you know what I’m saying? It’s a special thing.”
Owens added, “Natty too. Same thing. They do it in a way that’s not spectacular. It’s not extravagant. They’re just super solid all the time. They’re super reliable all the time. Consistent all the time. So much so that you don’t even notice it. Yep. You kind of take it for granted”

Kevin Owens reflected on a time when The Miz regularly competed against top stars like Roman Reigns, Seth Rollins, and Finn Balor for the Intercontinental Championship on RAW. “I remember Mike putting on matches with Roman, and Seth, and Finn for the IC title every week on RAW for a period of time, where you’d think: Roman versus Seth that’s going to be a barn burner. Roman versus Finn barn burner. Seth versus Finn barn burner. Seth versus Mike? Roman versus Miz?”
“But why? Because he does it every time. You know why, dude? Because he doesn’t go around telling everyone he’s the best. And I’m not saying Roman and Seth do which they kind of do. Finn definitely doesn’t. But they can say it. Yeah, Mike doesn’t do that, dude. Mike does what he’s asked to do, all the time, as good as he can.”
