One of the veterans in the world of professional wrestling was the Suicidal, Homicidal, Genocidal, Death-defying maniac, Sabu. The entire wrestling world was shocked and saddened by the news that the ECW Legend had passed away at the age of 60. Recently, noted Lucha Libre wrestling fan and a friend of the late Sabu, Roy Lucier, shared the story of how the veteran showed up at his wedding.
Lucier took to Twitter to share the story of how he had invited Sabu to his wedding back in January 2023. Sabu had given Lucier a call, mentioning that he did not have funds to travel. So, Roy Lucier had spoken with Barrio Toys and managed to get a booking for the legend in Sacramento where the wedding also took place. The ECW Legend stayed an extra day to attend the wedding. He also showed up to the wedding in his gimmick.
“Back in January 2023 I finally married my fiancée Michelle, and we sent out quite a few invites to friends of ours over the decades. One invite went to Sabu, who called me when he got his invite, and said he didn’t have the money to come out. I immediately called @BarrioToys and got him a booking here in Sacramento, and he stuck around the extra day to attend our wedding. He even came in gimmick and was such a pleasure to be around all day. Hearing the news this morning about his passing is so heartbreaking. He always gave 100% in the ring, but who he was outside of the ring too if you were in his circle, I’m really gonna miss that person. I love you Sabu, and thank you a million for all the memories. We’ll miss you,” Roy Lucier tweeted.

Roy Lucier shared the story of Sabu spending a day with him
Lucier also shared the story of how last year he got to spend a whole day with the ECW Legend and how he got to meet Lucier’s cats.
“Taken exactly one year ago. Sabu had just got done appearing at @StocktonCon in Lodi, and I drove him to the airport afterwards. We had time to kill, so we went out for ice cream and shakes, and he came out to meet my cats (yes, Big Sabu met Little Sabu) and also Muneco here. What I wouldn’t give for another fun day like this with him again. Cherish the memories you make with friends and family,” Roy Lucier tweeted.
WWE also paid homage to the Hardcore Icon on Monday Night Raw.
