CM Punk says it’s awesome to have AJ Lee experience the new WWE environment.
After almost a decade away from WWE, AJ Lee made her high-profile comeback in September, teaming with her husband against Seth Rollins and Becky Lynch at WrestlePalooza.
During a recent appearance on the Mostly Sports podcast, CM Punk was asked for his thoughts on AJ Lee’s comeback.
“It’s awesome,” Punk said. “Yeah, super, super awesome. I’m just excited that she gets to experience what a different place it is now, and how much it’s changed, and how her influence has created all these other women to follow their dreams. It’s been amazing. It’s been fun. She stuck around for like a year after I split, so she was there throughout 2014.
“I mean, back then it was more like high school — you constantly had to watch your back, watch what you say. People were out to, you know, cut your throat. It was just a lot of weird, mean-spirited high school hijinks. Now, the locker room is more business-oriented, and I feel like everybody celebrates everybody else’s victories.”
CM Punk and AJ Lee most recently competed at WWE Survivor Series: WarGames. AJ secured the win for her team in the Women’s WarGames match. While Punk’s team lost after the World Heavyweight Champion was pinned by Bron Breakker following a spear.
