Dominik Mysterio has opened up about Eddie Guerrero‘s impact on his life and career.
Speaking in a recent video uploaded on WWE’s YouTube channel, reigning AAA Mega Champion Dominik Mysterio looked back at the custody angle involving him, Rey Mysterio, and Eddie Guerrero. Dominik noted that Guerrero came up with the idea and recounted how the late legend took care of him during that time.
“He did so much for our family,” Dominik Mysterio began, “because it was his idea to do the whole custody battle. He was always making sure that I was okay, getting taken care of, always very kind, helpful, just a bright light.
“I look up there, and there’s Eddie standing over me just waving his finger. Fear is the only thing in my mind, and just because of his intensity. Now, seeing it as a wrestler and being a performer, and I’m like, ‘Man, he was so good.’”
Dominik Mysterio Also Credits Eddie Guerrero For His Current On-Screen Character
Speaking further, Dominik Mysterio also talked about seeing his father, Rey Mysterio, cry for the first time after Eddie Guerrero’s passing.
“When Eddie passed, that was the first time I saw my dad cry,” Dominik Mysterio continued.
I know Eddie had a rough past, and I know he struggled with a lot of stuff in the past, addictions and stuff like that, he’s dealt with. I know when he was doing the angle with me, he was like the best version of himself.”
Dominik Mysterio also said that he modeled his current heel character after Eddie Guerrero.
“Everything (pointing at his mullet and mustache), this is all Eddie. I watched him so much that it organically became a thing. Even with the Rhea (Ripley) stuff, Eddie and Chyna. Now, the lie, cheat, steal stuff that I’m currently doing.
“Yes, 100%, 110%! Without Eddie even knowing, he planted that seed. He’s just always been there the whole time.”
