Karrion Kross is not a fan of PDAs, but this occasion felt right.
The July 7 episode of WWE RAW saw Kross blast former Sami Zayn with a steel rod as he walked down the entrance ramp for a match against Bron Breakker. Later in the night, Kross cut an impassioned promo, promising to do the same thing every time Zayn makes an appearance on Raw. As his segment ended, Kross surprised fans, and seemingly his wife, Scarlett, when he planted her with a kiss. Kross and Scarlett later confirmed this part to be unscripted.
Kross recently spoke with Steve Fall for The Ten Count to promote his new book, Life Is Fighting. During the conversation, Kross’ recent improvisation came up. Kross said that he and Scarlett prank each other quite a bit, but this one was a little more obvious to the viewers.
“Her and I play ribs on each other all the time, that one was just more obvious than the other ones that we’ve done, that we’ve done live. But yeah, her and I have always worked improvisationally off of each other when there’s not a script in front of us,” Kross explained. “There’s an element of improv [with anything you see on the show]. There’s improv in the ring, there’s improv on the mic and what you saw was what happened. It was all for the sake of people enjoying entertaining people.”
I did. ??♂️

Karrion Kross explains why he’s not a fan of PDAs in wrestling
Kross then said he and Scarlett work together, but they’ve largely shied away from being affectionate with each other on camera. Kross explained that the wrestling fan in them knows that normally doesn’t get cheered, so fans popping for his impromptu kiss was surprising.
“She and I are not big on PDA [public displays of affection] in general. Especially too, her and I being wrestling fans. Neither of us ever tuned in to wrestling to watch people making out, it’s kind of obnoxious, which is why we’ve stayed away from kissing on camera. Like, ‘Get over yourselves, you guys are in a relationship! Do it somewhere else.’ But in that moment, it felt different. And then I was even laughing too, [because] I was surprised that got cheered. [laughs] Why do you cheer that? Because normally, if you were to see other couples in the past [like] Edge and Lita, no one was cheering that. Snitsky and Kelly Kelly, no one [is cheering that], you know what I mean? It was interesting and funny and yes, very improvisational.”
