Goldberg cracked a WWE referee’s rib at Saturday Night’s Main Event, and now he’s apologizing for his actions.
Former WWE World Heavyweight Champion Goldberg competed in his farewell match this past Saturday in Atlanta. The Hall of Famer took on Gunther for the World Heavyweight Championship. During the course of action, Goldberg inadvertently took out match official Charles Robinson with his spear.
Charles Robinson announced on Instagram that he suffered a cracked rib as a result of the impact. Despite that, the veteran referee said he’ll return to his duties this Friday on SmackDown.
Goldberg offers his apology for injuring Charles Robinson
During a recent appearance on The Ariel Helwani Show, Goldberg revealed he personally asked for Robinson to officiate his retirement match before offering a public apology for accidentally causing the injury.
“Yeah, I mean, here’s the deal — I asked for Charles to be in there,” Goldberg said. “Charles and I have a long history. Charles has taken that before. And I might have broken a rib last time. Charles is a — I’m not going to say a renaissance man, but dude is indestructible. I don’t know how old he is, but he’s taken that spear a number of times, a lot of times. More power to him, I love him to death, but I do apologize for the rib and it will heal like the other one did.”
Goldberg also issued an apology to Gunther for his reaction to a sequence during their match.
Elsewhere in the interview, Goldberg said he wasn’t too thrilled about having his retirement match at WWE Saturday Night’s Main Event. Despite saying he had fun overall, Goldberg explained why he was “pissed off about the way he went out.” Fans can check out the full comment here.
