Drew McIntyre didn’t hold back when he made fun of the upcoming CM Punk vs. Gunther match at WWE SummerSlam.
McIntyre is known for trolling his rivals on X (formerly Twitter). He shared a GIF of two toilets banging into each other, clearly mocking the upcoming WWE World Heavyweight Championship match at SummerSlam.
Drew McIntyre has a history with Punk and Gunther, so it’s no surprise he took a shot at the big match. He clearly isn’t impressed with CM Punk earning a shot at Gunther’s World Heavyweight Championship. McIntyre’s message was clear: he doesn’t think the match lives up to the hype.
However, the build-up for Punk vs. Gunther started a few weeks ago on the June 30 episode of WWE RAW. During a segment, Seth Rollins interrupted Gunther in the ring. Suddenly, CM Punk attacked Rollins for costing a match against John Cena at Night of Champions.
Seth Rollins tried to run, but LA Knight caught him in the crowd and attacked him. As the brawl continued, Gunther reached out to Punk, but Punk shoved him away and walked off angrily. This brief moment teased tension between Punk and Gunther, and now the match is official.
CM Punk won a gauntlet match on RAW, earning a shot at the Ring General’s World Heavyweight Championship at WWE SummerSlam. Fans are excited for the title match, but clearly the Scottish Warrior isn’t one of them.

Drew McIntyre admits he won’t attempt scary bump again
Drew McIntyre recently looked back on his brutal Hell in a Cell match against CM Punk at Bad Blood, where he took a dangerous bump, landing spine-first on steel steps. McIntyre described that he could execute the move safely, which he did. However, he admitted the risk was too high.
“I got lucky, convinced I could do it as safely as possible. I did, but it’s not a risk I’ll ever take again. It’s the risk for that match, for that moment, and I knew in the moment like, considering, you know, the amount of blood that was going on and how it felt in there and the story we’re telling and the way things were coming off this is the match I’ve been looking for in my whole life.”
McIntyre knows he’ll look back fondly on the moment, just like he did with matches like Triple H and Mick Foley had when he was a kid. Despite that, he said it was a “one-and-done.”
“[That spot] will never be done again and that match will live forever.”
