Becky Lynch really leaned into the ‘Becky Hogan’ criticism on WWE RAW.
Recently, Becky Lynch has been called ‘Becky Hogan’ by wrestling fans who believe she is being shoved down their throats. The name is a reference to Hulk Hogan’s infamous “creative control” clauses he reportedly had built into his wrestling contracts.
Lynch previously addressed the nickname on RAW Recap, claiming that she’s done nothing to be called the “bad guy.” In case her feelings weren’t clear, Becky Lynch also referred to Hulk Hogan as being the “scummiest person on Earth.”
“I’ve got scars on my arms, all of this because of what I’ve given to this industry. Like I wear the scars of what I’ve done on my body. I wear them with pride because of all I’ve given back. And these people go around, they compare me to the scummiest person on Earth? After everything I’ve done for them? And I’m the bad guy? I’m just supposed to hit here and take even though I didn’t do anything wrong? I broke through glass ceilings, I changed the game.”
This week, Lynch took things a step further by wearing red and yellow to the ring on WWE RAW. Fans immediately caught on to the reference:

Becky Lynch isn’t the only one to be called a “Hogan,” as trolls have also used it to insult Mercedes Moné, among other wrestlers who have been booked strongly. Moné recently responded to the name and suggested they call her another name.
What’s next for Becky Lynch?
Lynch successfully defended her Intercontinental Championship against Bayley and Lyra Valkyria at WWE Evolution. She will now move on to face Valkyria, who beat Bayley in a 2-out-of-3 falls match on RAW, in a singles match at SummerSlam.
