14-Time WWE World Heavyweight Champion Randy Orton hints at wanting to play a role in James Gunn’s DC universe.
Gunn’s new DC Universe started strong with the movie Superman, which fans really enjoyed. The film stars David Corenswet as Superman, Rachel Brosnahan as Lois Lane, and Nicholas Hoult as Lex Luthor. It made $217 million at the global box office during its first weekend.
Now, Gunn is focusing on shoring up other parts of the DCU, including casting a new Batman for The Brave and the Bold. Gunn has confirmed that The Brave and the Bold, which will introduce the new Batman, is still in the early stages of development. He said casting hasn’t started yet because he’s still working with a writer to finish the script.
Robert Pattinson, who plays Batman in Matt Reeves’ The Batman movies, won’t be part of the main DCU storyline. James Gunn is building a separate universe, and a notable WWE Superstar threw his hat in the mix.
Randy Orton teases interest in playing Batman
No names have been officially linked to the role. However, Randy Orton recently made headlines after responding to a tweet that asked, “Who do you think should play Batman in James Gunn’s DCU?”
The Viper replied with a simple waving hand emoji. It wasn’t a direct statement. However, the emoji was enough to get the idea that Orton is interested in the role. Orton isn’t new to acting, as he has appeared in a few action-packed movies produced by WWE Studios, such as The Condemned 2 and 12 Rounds: Reloaded.
It’s highly unlikely that Orton gets cast as Batman. However, The Rock, John Cena, and Dave Bautista have already made their mark in the superhero universe. Additionally, Roman Reigns and New Japan Pro-Wrestling’s Hirooki Goto have been cast in Street Fighter, so it’s not completely unheard of to have a pro wrestler cast in major roles like these.
