Chelsea Green informed Matt Cardona about John Cena’s WWE SmackDown name drop.
John Cena reignited the wrestling world’s buzz on WWE SmackDown by channeling CM Punk’s iconic pipebomb promo. After putting Punk through a table, Cena grabbed a microphone and delivered a verbal bash. During the promo, Cena name-dropped Matt Cardona, Claudio Castagnoli, and Nic Nemeth.
Cena told Punk, “You’re just a loudmouth opportunist who will step on the necks of people who actually work hard if it gets you ahead. Where’s another camera? Hey, Claudio Castagnoli. Hey, Nick Nemeth. Hey, Matt Cardona. How you guys doing?”
At a Fanatics Live signing, Chelsea Green spoke about John Cena’s pipebomb promo. She revealed Matt Cardona hadn’t seen the promo when it aired because he was wrestling. She ended up being the one to break the news to him.
“He’s chronically online. He never, ever leaves his phone. He happened to be on his phone, so he wasn’t online, didn’t know, and I got to break the news to him. [It’s a] rare occurrence,” Green said. “So I got to tell him, and he was so flustered. He’s like, ‘I don’t understand.’ I’m like, ‘Just go watch it.’” [H/T: WrestlingInc]
Cardona also reacted to the John Cena namedrop over the weekend, responding to the 17-time champion during one of his own matches.
