Two more have advanced in the ongoing WWE Queen of the Ring tournament, with two female superstars punching their tickets into the next round.
On Friday’s episode of WWE SmackDown, Jade Cargill made her way to the next round of the tournament. In a Fatal 4-Way match against Michin, Nia Jax, and Piper Niven, it was Cargill that walked out on top after hitting a surprise Jaded on Niven for the win.
Later in the night, Alexa Bliss stole a win from Charlotte Flair. In a match containing Charlotte Flair, Alba Fyre, and Candice LeRae, Bliss snatched one away. Late in the match, Flair had Alba Fyre locked in a vicious submission. Bliss quickly hit a very fast Sister Abigail on LeRae next to Flair, though, and the ref counted three just before Fyre started tapping out.
The winners of the King and Queen of the Ring tournaments will receive a respective championship match at WWE SummerSlam. Orton will face off against Sami Zayn in the semifinals. On the women’s side, Cargill and Roxanne Perez face off, with Bliss facing the winner of Asuka, Stephanie Vaquer, Raquel Rodriguez, and Ivy Nile’s match.
King and Queen of the Ring was last held last year, with its own official event also in Saudi Arabia. That show saw Gunther defeat Randy Orton in the King of the Ring tournament, while Nia Jax beat Lyra Valkyria in the Queen of the Ring final.
