Shotzi Blackheart loved working with Ronda Rousey during her time in WWE.
In 2022, Blackheart earned an opportunity to challenge Ronda Rousey for the SmackDown Women’s Championship. Their match took place at WWE Survivor Series 2022, where Rousey successfully retained her title by making Blackheart submit with her signature armbar.
While speaking on The Ariel Helwani Show, Blackheart looked back fondly on her time working with Rousey. She addressed the criticism Rousey faced after a botched DDT during their match.
“I loved working with Ronda. Okay, she is so cool and so down, and people do not give her enough credit. Yeah, she got a lot of sh*t when we did that DDT spot in our match, and like, people didn’t like how she took the move. She went and got a trainer to teach her how to spike a DDT, and we did it in our next match, and she fought for it. She was like, “I don’t care what we do in this match, I am taking that DDT from you again.” And she took it like a champ. Spiked herself on the apron. And yeah, she is such a badass. I loved working with Ronda.”
When asked why she thought fans had a love-hate relationship with Rousey, Blackheart replied, “I don’t know. Because when she first came in, she had that WrestleMania match and it was really, really awesome. But I don’t know with the fans, like, they’re so picky sometimes, you know?”
