WWE files a trademark for a new arrival.
Mariah May is no more, as Blake Monroe now resides on WWE NXT. WWE confirmed the name change of the former AEW Women’s World Champion through a vintage-styled vignette on last night’s episode of NXT. The Blake Monroe name is reportedly a tribute to Hollywood icon Marilyn Monroe, as well as May’s real-life niece, Blake.
Per the United States Patent and Trademark Office, WWE filed to trademark “Blake Monroe” on Tuesday, June 10. USPTO indicated that the trademark was filed under the goods and services category, specifically entertainment and media services related to professional wrestling.
The full description is as follows:
“Entertainment services, namely, wrestling exhibitions and performances by a professional wrestler and entertainer rendered live and through broadcast media including television and radio, and via the internet or commercial online service; providing wrestling news and information via a global computer network; providing information in the fields of sports and entertainment via an online community portal; providing a website in the field of sports entertainment information; fan club services, namely, organizing sporting events in the field of wrestling for wrestling fan club members; organizing social entertainment events for entertainment purposes for wrestling fan club members; providing online newsletters in the fields of sports entertainment; online journals, namely blogs, in the field of sports entertainment.”
May’s arrival in WWE comes on the heels of her exit from All Elite Wrestling, where she last competed at AEW Revolution in March. AEW removed May from their roster page on May 30. Four days later, “The Glamour” made her surprise debut on NXT, making her vision of the NXT Women’s Championship very clear.
