Bronson Reed is wearing sunglasses when he isn’t flattening his opponents with, as Wade Barrett, puts it: tssssunnnnaaaammmiii!!!
Former NXT North American Champion Bronson Reed is currently aligned with Seth Rollins on the main roster. Reed returned from injury at WWE Saturday Night’s Main Event to help Rollins and Bron Breakker defeat CM Punk and Seth Rollins.
This newfound alliance has seen Breakker and Reed don formal attire, complete with sunglasses, every time they come out to the ring for a promo segment. Turns out, Bronson Reed’s gimmick was supposed to a “gun in sunglasses” all along.
While Reed is no stranger to putting on a formal attire, the suit and the glasses seem to be part of his current gimmick as an insurance policy for Seth Rollins.
Baron Corbin reveals past pitch for Bronson Reed’s gimmick
Former WWE superstar Baron Corbin (aka Bishop Dyer) recently appeared on Busted Open Radio to talk about the roster changes he’s witnessed during the past year. During the conversation, Dyer expressed his frustration with Bronson Reed’s gimmick, noting the lack of explanation behind the character.
“You know, like, one of my frustrations…Bronson Reed is there,” Dyer said. “And I know you’re a fan of his, and for me, but who is he? What does he do? There’s no…I even remember one time, the character pitch was like ‘He’s a guy that wears sunglasses.’ What the f**k does that tell me about him? And that was real. If you watch his first promos when he was coming up, he was in sunglasses. That was in character. I don’t know. I struggle with that a little bit. So that’s why I do love what they’re doing in ‘NXT.’” [H/T WrestlingInc]
