Shelton Benjamin recently took to social media to respond to claims that he couldn’t get “over” with fans in WWE.
In a recent series of posts on X, Benjamin responded to a fan reacting to a compilation of his time in WWE. In the post, the fan mentioned that, although Benjamin was a great in-ring wrestler, he struggled to get “over” with fans. Benjamin saw this and promptly responded, saying that was perhaps the one thing he was never bad at.
I don’t think you’re old enough to look back far enough so I’ll cut you some slack but Being over with the fans was the one thing Ive never lacked.

“I don’t think you’re old enough to look back far enough, so I’ll cut you some slack. But being over with the fans was the one thing I’ve never lacked,” said Benjamin.
The fan noted that they’d been watching Benjamin for a long time. They also said they’re a fan of his, but that his character never really got the love of the crowd. Benjamin was quick to answer back, jokingly asking how he had any fans if that was the case.
The conversation continued with Benjamin explaining exactly why he believed he was over with fans, even if he never took home a ton of gold.
“So again, you were a fan, but also according to you, I never got over with the fans, you being among them,” Benjamin said. “Being over and being champ are not synonymous. You not seeing me as champ material I can only respect, so can you answer my question now, we are all still waiting.”
Other fans quickly took to Benjamin’s defense, with many claiming the star was universally loved. Currently, Shelton Benjamin wrestles alongside Bobby Lashley and MVP in All Elite Wrestling, as part of The Hurt Syndicate.
