It doesn’t sound like we’re going to see Rey Mysterio back on WWE programming anytime soon.
On the SmackDown before WrestleMania, Rey Mysterio suffered an injury that forced him to miss his match with El Grande Americano later that weekend at WrestleMania 41. While many fans were hopeful that this injury wouldn’t keep Mysterio sidelined long, we now know that’s not the case.
The WWE Hall of Famer took to his Instagram Stories this morning to announce that he’s suffered a torn abductor and will be going under surgery today.
“What’s up fam, how you guys doing? I’m here in Birmingham, Alabama, at Andrew’s Sports Medicine and Orthopedic Center getting ready for my surgery,” Rey Mysterio revealed. “I tore my abductor at the SmackDown before WrestleMania, and I’m scheduled for surgery today. So I will keep you guys posted. Thank you guys very much, and I will let you know once I get out of surgery.”
For a normal human being, it takes four to six months to fully recover from this kind of surgery. However, Mysterio isn’t normal, so we’ll see how long the Master of the 619 will be on the shelf.
