Nic and Ryan Nemeth believe Joe Hendry needs to make things right and get the TNA World Championship back for TNA.
NXT star Trick Williams shocked the world by defeating TNA’s Joe Hendry to win the title at NXT Battleground in Tampa. Some fans felt happy for Trick and bad for Hendry, while others, like Frankie Kazarian, said Hendry blew it for TNA and disappointed the whole locker room.
“Frankie makes a great point. That guy has never been TNA World Heavyweight Champion. I didn’t know that,” Nic Nemeth began, before also pointing out that Kazarian has such a rich history with TNA, but he’s never been its world champion. “But now, someone who doesn’t work here and works with WWE, who’s kind of new if you think about it, is the TNA World Heavyweight Champion because Joe Hendry got beat. So, I’m pissed off about it.
“And I’ve only been associated with TNA for a year and a half. Imagine a guy who’s done everything asked for above and beyond, dominated, and now he’s like, ‘I may never get another shot at the title.’ I don’t know. Does Trick Williams just keep it and go somewhere else? I really think when we come to Tempe, Arizona next week, we have to have some type of a locker room meeting or a company meeting,” Nic Nemeth added.
Nic Nemeth is pissed off at Joe Hendry, and challenges him to do something about it
Nic Nemeth says you can focus on all the positives about Joe Hendry if you choose to, like his grassroots following and getting fans to sing his theme song. However, Nemeth pointed out, that doesn’t matter when a champion chokes in the ring like Hendry did at NXT Battleground.
“I’m pissed off. I want to kick his ass outside of the ring, unrelated to work,” Nemeth said. “Now that he let that happen, we have to call it what it is. He didn’t back it up in the ring. So, he lost it. He blew it. He lost the TNA World Title, and he needs to find a way to get that back in our company. I don’t care who, I don’t care how. But he can’t just go out there, turn around and be like, ‘Shucks, guys. I sure tried. But isn’t it fun when you all downloaded my song?’ Screw that sh*t. I need somebody to be in this company that I can fight for and fight against for the TNA title. It’s not participation awards, and thanks for trying.”
Despite the “black eye” Hendry’s loss gives TNA, Ryan Nemeth also pointed out that this puts them on notice as well.
“I guess someone from a different company can challenge and even win a title from us. So now, you know, we are the tag team champions, the best brothers of all time. And we already have… We’ve had our first defense just a few days ago. I’m sure we’ll have another one in Tempe, Arizona. But now, we have to be on the lookout for just anybody from any company at all. It’s just possible here? All right. Well, great. Bring it on,” Ryan Nemeth said.
Trick Williams’ win is cool for fans, but that doesn’t mean TNA’s locker room has to like it
Pritchard pointed out that Nic Nemeth (as Dolph Ziggler) won the NXT title as a member of the WWE main roster. However, it’s a much different situation when it’s a true outsider taking the promotion’s top prize.
“I’ll focus on the positives as much as I can. It’s great for the fans. Clearly, this relationship has been very fruitful for both sides,” Nic explained. “Fans have the greatest time to ever be a fan because you don’t know if on Tuesday, NXT, someone’s going to show up from TNA. You don’t know on Thursday on iMPACT, you’re going to see somebody from NXT or WWE show up and walk in the door. Like Ryan explained earlier, we have an entire roster gunning for us to win these titles back. It’s a hot tag team division. And now we have half the entire world, can just show up and say, ‘I demand it.’
The Nemeths aren’t going to “pull a Joe Hendry” with their titles
“And we’re going to try and back it up, because we are champs. We don’t just walk away and quit and say, ‘Oh, I didn’t know you were supposed to be here.’ Or let them win. We won’t pull a Joe Hendry,” Nic Nemeth continued, “and just like roll over and lose because everybody was giving me a thumbs up and were really proud of me for my hard work. We have to back it up in the ring. And we will and we have so far.”
“We’re not worried about any tag team,” Ryan Nemeth said. “We’ve defeated the Hardys. We’ll take any combination. We took a random combination of Matt Hardy and Leon Slater. We gave them a shot, and guess what? I got this [points at his black eye] from Leon Slater. Thanks a lot, buddy. But we won. We came out on top. We’re still the champions. That’s all it is, we just have a lot of other people looking at it now. We have several rosters’ worth now. We want a piece.”
TNA will be at the Mullett Arena in Tempe, Arizona for Against All Odds on June 6, followed by a TNA Impact television taping on June 7.
