WWE is reportedly considering asking fans to stop chanting swear words during RAW, NXT, and SmackDown.
With each passing year, wrestling fans have become more vocal at live events. Expressing their delight or displeasure depending on the moment. Some of the latter can lead to some colorful chants that are often edited out of WWE programming. But it appears the company might be looking to make a move to prevent these chants from happening in the future.
On the latest episode of Wrestling Observer Radio, Dave Meltzer noted that WWE is considering asking fans not to swear at televised events in the future.
“People have actually suggested this,” Dave Meltzer began. “Of just like making an announcement of, ‘Hey, we’re here. It’s a TV show. It’s going all over the world. We want you to have fun, don’t swear.’
“In the past, if they had done that, the audience would have then started swearing because they wouldn’t want to be controlled. But I think this audience is mature enough and smart enough and everything like that that if you told them that, I think they might be okay with it…That is something that has been suggested, I know that, but they don’t do it.” [H/T: Cultaholic]
