Lyra Valkyria believes her WWE WrestleMania moment was tainted.
At WrestleMania 41, Lyra and Becky Lynch defeated Liv Morgan and Raquel Rodriguez to win the WWE Women’s Tag Team Championship. Lyra was supposed to team with Bayley, but the Role Model was written off the card with an injury angle and replaced with Becky.
Lyra Valkyria recently sat down with Chris Van Vliet for a new interview. The WWE Women’s Intercontinental Champion said her WrestleMania moment was tainted because it came at the expense of Bayley.
“It’s funny because, you know, it came at the expense of Bayley, which is a bit sad because, you know, we clicked so well as a tag team,” Lyra explained. “So it was genuinely hard to have my Mania moment come at an expense to… like Becky was everything that I, you know, she is a big part of the reason I started wrestling. But it was the era of the Four Horsewomen and NXT. It wasn’t just Becky, you know, Bayley was a massive influence as well. So it did kind of taint how great it was knowing it was coming at her expense.”
Lyra Valkyria cost Becky Lynch a huge opportunity on WWE RAW
Becky Lynch turned against Lyra Valkyria after the pair dropped the tag team titles back to The Judgment Day on the RAW after WrestleMania. “The Man” unsuccessfully challenged her former protégé for the Women’s Intercontinental Championship at WWE Backlash.
After the match, Becky attacked Lyra until security came out to intervene. Lyra would eventually cost Becky her spot in the Women’s Money in the Bank ladder match in the three-way that also featured Roxanne Perez and Natalya this past Monday on RAW.
