Pat McAfee made an appearance on WWE RAW, just days after suffering a brutal loss to Gunther at Backlash.
Their rivalry kicked off on WWE RAW after WrestleMania 41. Following his defeat at WrestleMania 41, Gunther went after Michael Cole. McAfee quickly stepped in to defend Cole, but Gunther responded by locking McAfee in a vicious sleeper hold setting the stage for their clash at Backlash.
At WWE Backlash, McAfee gave it everything he had, standing up against the Ring General. Despite his efforts, McAfee, who put up a great fight against Gunther, couldn’t overcome his power.
During the final moments of the match, Michael Cole left the commentary desk to support McAfee at ringside. Although Cole tried to help, Gunther still managed to put McAfee away and secure the win.
After the bell, McAfee got back on his feet and stared down Gunther. In a rare show of respect, he tipped his hat toward McAfee before walking away. While McAfee earned his respect, he didn’t leave the match in one piece. On WWE RAW, Michael Cole said that Pat McAfee would show up later in the night.
McAfee finally arrived on the show, the fans stood up and cheered for him. While, he appreciated the fans gesture. After sitting down, McAfee said his whole body hurt. He also explained that one of Gunther’s chops burst a blood vessel in his eye, and he showed the painful injury to the camera.
