One of the most popular and longest-running animated shows on American television is Family Guy. The show is created by Seth McFarlane. On the most recent episode of the show, one of AEW’s commentators played a cameo role, or so it seems. The star is none other than popular masked commentator Excalibur.
On this week’s episode of Family Guy, Peter Griffin’s son, Chris Griffin, was set to spar with a fellow student in his school. The kid was ready to compete, and the School’s Principal, Principal Shephard, asked the kid to go easy on Griffin. But then, Chris jumped from the top with a steel chair and knocked out his sparring partner. He then told his Principal that this is the only type of wrestling he knows.
The Principal then said that he does not blame Chris Griffin and revealed that he is pretty into it too. While saying so, he put on an Excalibur mask.
Colt Cabana previously shared that his brother, Greg Colton, was a director on the hit FOX series, which led to the AEW tie-in. After the episode aired, Cabana shared the original concept art for segment. This originally saw Chris Griffin doing a Colt Cabana cosplay while the principal wore the mask of Cabana’s alternate persona, Matt Classic. However, the showrunners wanted two masked characters, so he pitched some other masked AEW wrestlers for the spot.
Here was the original @FamilyGuyonFOX concept with both Matt Classic & Colt Cabana.
They ended wanting two masked wrestlers so I pitched @EvilUno @KingSerpentico @ShutUpExcalibur & some others. @AEW x FG crossover or the century. https://t.co/PTbQG2TZNi pic.twitter.com/gdFWtpdlbH— Colt Cabana? (@ColtCabana) May 12, 2025
