Motor City Machine Guns are now members of WWE, but according to a new report, the group could have been headed to All Elite Wrestling had things played out a bit differently.
According to a new report from Fightful Select’s Sean Ross Sapp, Motor City Machine Guns did actually have meetings with AEW last year. Although plans were unknown at the time, Fightful now reports what the company’s plans for the group were.
According to the report, the plan was to have the duo feud with Young Bucks for the company’s tag team titles, leading up to a match at AEW All In: London.
However, during talks with AEW, Fightful reports, things went “radio silent.” This led those at All Elite Wrestling to believe that they were WWE-bound, which turned out to be true. The duo debuted in surprise fashion in September 2024.
Just a week later, Motor City Machine Guns would go on to win the WWE Tag Team Championships from DIY. Two months later, the duo lost the titles to DIY. Ever since, they’ve tried to win them back, most recently losing to the now-champions Street Profits in a TLC match in April.
As for AEW, the company pivoted from MCMG. In the feud’s place, the Young Bucks defended their titles against FTR and The Acclaimed at All In.
