The Rock ‘n’ Roll Express didn’t let criticism over their looks hold them back.
The Rock ‘n’ Roll Express is one of the most legendary tag teams in pro wrestling. The team consists of WWE Hall of Famers Ricky Morton and Robert Gibson, and they were known for their colorful attire and being the ultimate babyface team. However, F4WOnline.com’s Dave Meltzer had once mentioned that Morton and Gibson looked like clowns in an old issue of the Wrestling Observer Newsletter.
@WrestlingMagazine shared a tweet that highlighted a fan’s response to Meltzer’s initial remark, explaining that they took offense to the comment. Morton recently shared his thoughts on the “clown” comment made by Meltzer.
Morton proudly stated that the Rock ‘n’ Roll Express were the ones who sold out arenas and stadiums. He also shared that he did not take any offense to being called a clown. Rather, he and Robert Gibson saw their opportunity to shine and took full advantage of that.
“Those “clowns” sold out stadiums and arenas all over the country. Those “clowns” went down is history as pioneers of tag team, professional wrestling. I never-minded being called “clowns.” we saw our opportunity and took full advantage,” Ricky Morton wrote on Twitter.
