Steve Austin thinks WWE is going “too far” with breaking kayfabe.
The Texas Rattlesnake recently appeared on The Ariel Helwani Show to discuss all things pro wrestling. Helwani brought up WWE’s upcoming documentary on Netflix, and asked Austin for his opinion on the company’s current approach when it comes to kayfabe.
“Man, I’m still a little old school on that,” Austin said. “I’m a big magic fan, but if Harry Houdini is still around, I don’t want him to tell me how he does it. I want to figure out how he does it. And if I can’t, then I’m gonna keep wondering and I’m gonna keep watching.
“I know it’s not magic, it’s an illusion, but let me keep wondering about that illusion.”
Steve Austin reveals why he didn’t stick around to watch WWE WrestleMania 41 main event
Elsewhere on the podcast, Austin revealed he didn’t stick around to watch Cody Rhodes versus John Cena battle for the Undisputed WWE Championship in the WrestleMania 41 main event because he had to beat the traffic.
“I didn’t see it,” Austin admitted. “[Did you go home?] Yes, I did. [Any particular reason?] No, I just wanted to beat the crowd, and I haven’t watched it back. I follow WWE on IG. That’s where I get most of my content. I’ll get the snippets and stuff that they play, and that’s what I see.”
Austin appeared on WrestleMania Night 2 to announce the attendance numbers for the PLE. The two-time WWE Hall of Famer had a little mishap on his way to the ring. Fans can check out the actual POV footage of Steve Austin’s ATV crash here.
