El Grande Americano is set to make his Lucha Libre AAA debut.
Following WWE’s acquisition of AAA, both companies have produced a number of crossover matches and moments, with the latest seeing Lola Vice team up with TNA’s Santino Marella at
AAA Verano De Escandalo. Looking ahead, El Grande Americano will be the next WWE Superstar to dip their toe into the world of AAA.
As announced by AAA, Americano will take on former AAA Latin American Champion Octagon Jr. at their July 25 event in Mexico City’s Juan de la Barrera Olympic Gymnasium. Octagon Jr. previously appeared at WWE x AAA Worlds Collide, picking up a tag victory over WWE’s Lince Dorado and LWO (Cruz Del Toro and Dragon Lee).

For Americano, this will mark his first showing under the AAA banner. Chad Gable, the original man under the Americano mask, wrestled as himself when challenging El Hijo Del Vikingo for the AAA Mega Championship at Worlds Collide. Shortly after, however, he sustained a shoulder injury that has now left him sidelined for months.
In Gable’s absence, Ludwig Kaiser has adopted the El Grande Americano gear and mask, and expected to be the one battling Octagon Jr. next weekend. Kaiser, as Americano, recently defeated Dragon Lee.
The July 25 AAA event will be pre-taped and air on television at a later date.
