It sounds as if The Undertaker got more out of WWE LFG than he expected to.
The Undertaker is one of the four coaches on A&E’s reality competition series, WWE LFG: Legends and Future Greats, along with Bubba Ray Dudley, Booker T and Mickie James. Taker was asked about the bonds he’s formed with the competitors on the series this year, and he said that the level of investment is what caught him off guard.
“You definitely get invested in these kids. And obviously in the four [competitors] that you get, but the whole group. We’re around all of these kids for 3-4 days at a time, and you can’t help but — we’re very competitive and at the end of the day, we want to be the winning coach, but you can’t not be invested in these kids’ futures. And whether it’s Bubba’s, Mickie’s or even Booker’s,” Undertaker explained. “You can’t help but find yourself taking somebody that’s not on your team, taking them aside and giving them some tips here and there. Just because you want to see these kids succeed, I was really shocked at how invested I became so quickly.
The Undertaker says talent growth speaks to the system that Shawn Michaels has at the WWE Performance Center
“Two of my kids, Elijah and Bailey, they got to the Performance Center, I think, a week before we started filming,” Undertaker said, noting that other coaches had talent starting from ‘ground zero.’ “It’s just amazing to watch how fast in the system that they grow. It’s amazing to do what they did in these first matches that they had on TV, it’s just a testament to what Shawn and his team is doing down there. But it’s really — it’s just amazing how invested [we all are].”
The Undertaker pointed out that fans will see evidence of this if they see background footage of the show. He pointed out that you’ll see coaches giving out advice to other teams, adding that he would have given a lot to have “that kind of tutelage just at my fingertips” when he started out.
WWE LFG airs Sunday nights on A&E.
