Dominik Mysterio has expressed regret for letting JD McDonagh finish their tag team match while injured.
JD McDonagh suffered a serious injury on WWE programming back in January. The Irish Ace hit the announce desk while doing an Asai Moonsault. The impact left McDonagh with a punctured lung and broken ribs. Despite the injury, McDonagh went on to finish the match, getting standing ovation from the crowd.
Dominik recently appeared on Sam Roberts Wrestling Podcast to talk about the infamous tag team match from the January 27 episode of RAW. The Judgment Day star felt he should’ve done better instead of letting his injured partner complete the match.
“That’s on me, too,” Dominik said. There are a couple of things in that match that I should’ve done better. Sorry, JD. After he was already f*cked up, we were getting close to where I hit the 619 and we had planned the 619 and JD moonsault, but he told me, ‘I can’t do the moonsault.’ In my head, I’m like, ‘You gotta do the fucking moonsault.’ In my head, I’m not going to beat Ivar’s fata** with just a 619 and frogsplash, I have to hit him with more. I hit the 619 and I’m running and JD is [in pain]. I was already running, but he committed. I love that guy. I was like, ‘I’m so sorry.’ He’s like, [miming catching his breath] ‘Oh, you’re good brother.’ He finished the match, but it was bad. He’s such a trooper. I love that dude.” (H/T Fightful)
JD McDonagh made shocking return to WWE
JD McDonagh made a shocking return on the RAW after WrestleMania. The Irish Ace interfered during the closing moments of Dominik Mysterio versus Penta for the WWE Intercontinental Championship. Dominik capitalized on the interference to hit Penta with a 619-frogsplash combo for the win.
After helping Dominik retain his title, McDonagh urged The Judgment to stop the in-fighting with a message on X (formerly Twitter). He captioned the post: ‘Got here as quick as I could, guys, can we stop fighting now?”
