Two more have advanced in the ongoing WWE King of the Ring tournament, with men’s and women’s semifinals gaining another participant.
On Monday’s episode of WWE RAW, the returning Asuka punched her ticket into the next round. In a match against Ivy Nile, Raquel Rodriguez, and Stephanie Vaquer, Asuka walked out on top after hitting the Empress Impact on Rodriguez for the win. The finish came after Rhea Ripley appeared, and hit Rodriguez with a Riptide on the floor.
Later in the night, Jey Uso made it a step further in the tournament. Fresh off of losing his WWE World Heavyweight Championship, Uso was the surprise entrant in tonight’s match. Going up against Rusev, Sheamus, and Bronson Reed, Uso won after LA Knight helped by distracting Reed late. Uso hit a Spear on Reed and then two Uso Splashes for the win.
The winners of the King and Queen of the Ring tournaments will receive a respective championship match at WWE SummerSlam. Orton will face off against Sami Zayn in the semifinals, while Rhodes and Uso will go toe-to-toe. On the women’s side, Jade Cargill and Roxanne Perez face off, while Alexa Bliss faces off against Asuka.
King and Queen of the Ring was last held last year, with its own official event also in Saudi Arabia. That show saw Gunther defeat Randy Orton in the King of the Ring tournament, while Nia Jax beat Lyra Valkyria in the Queen of the Ring final.
