Goldberg is preparing for his retirement match and dropped a hint about where his final match might happen.
Goldberg spoke with My San Antonio about entering the final phase of his in-ring career, which will include a retirement match in WWE. “Da Man” has been training in preparation for the bout, which still doesn’t have a (publicly) confirmed opponent, date or venue.
However, Goldberg shed more light on the situation, revealing that match might take place “in the South.”
“It’s going to be in the South,” Goldberg said. “This gives me the opportunity to put a stamp on my career in front of the people I care the most about.”
The only other hint he offered was that the match will take place “before the end of 2025.”
The “South” clue leads to speculation that Goldberg’s final match would take place in or near Atlanta, where he is from. Goldberg’s last appearance came at WWE Bad Blood 2024 in Atlanta, where he had a confrontation with Gunther, who is rumored to be in the running for the match. However, WWE currently doesn’t have any publicly confirmed events in Atlanta, and the only other events in the South (as of now) are this weekend in Tampa, and two SmackDown tapings in July in Nashville and San Antonio. WWE will likely make a big push to advertise the match, so we’ll have to wait and see when (and where) Goldberg’s swan song goes down.
Goldberg recently gave an update on his health heading into his retirement match.
