The inaugural and current WWE Women’s Intercontinental Champion Lyra Valkyria has seen immense success in her WWE run so far. Valkyria is a former NXT Women’s Champion and a former WWE Women’s Tag Team Champion as well.
Valkyria recently spoke to Alex Lajas of Queen of the Ring at WrestleMania media day. There, Lyra shared what she believes the key factors to succeed in the world of pro wrestling are. She shared that it is important to be consistent and understand one’s positives and negatives.
“I think it’s consistency. But also just self-awareness. Knowing what you are good at, what you are not, and not comparing your journey to anyone else’s journey,” Lyra explained. “Because that’s the biggest thing in wrestling, is like in a normal sport, you just collect wins and gradually move up. Whereas in wrestling it’s so crazy, unpredictable… You could feel like you’re going nowhere, and then something massive could happen. Like, you just don’t know.
“So, it’s consistency and believing in yourself. And I know people say it’s very like… You know, people always say, ‘Believe in yourself.’ But you really, really do have to. Even when it gets bad in wrestling. So, yeah, that’s my advice,” Lyra Valkyria said.
At WrestleMania 41, Lyra Valkyria managed to capture the WWE Women’s Tag Team titles with her friend, Becky Lynch. This alliance came to fruition after Bayley was attacked backstage, and Valkyria was forced to find a new partner for WrestleMania.
Valkyria and Lynch’s brief tag team alliance came to a quick end, however, as they lost the titles the next night on RAW. This led to Lynch turning on her friend and attacking Valkyria.
